MISSION VIEJO VOTERS SLAPPED WITH RIGGED BALLOT ON CITY HALL

"No Way to Say No" on Measure K

In an official editorial on the ballot measure, the Orange County Register stated: "For an example of the lengths to which some public officials will go to circumvent the will of the voters, turn your attention to Mission Viejo, where the City Council majority is trying to build a new city hall. Instead of holding a straightforward advisory vote on the plan, council members seem to be manipulating the process to achieve their desired outcome."

Mayor Butterfield and Councilwoman Withrow have:

  1. Deceived voters, camouflaging an earlier $2.5 million site acquisition.
  2. Dodged open meeting laws.
  3. Violated an ordinance when they secretly gave a ballot strategy directive to the City Manager.
  4. Abandoned a straightforward ballot question after their survey showed voters would reject a new city hall.
  5. Secretly hired a political consultant to fool voters.
  6. Created a sham ballot where all 3 options force voters to apprve the same massive and unnecessary size increase, nearly doubling city hall size.
  7. Misled voters about leasing (Option 1), not intending to follow this option, knowing the proposed additional space is not available and failing to negotiate such as possibility prior to proposing a new city hall building.
  8. Added a phony ballot option (Option 2), knowing the present Pala building is
      not for sale.
  9. Deceived voters with skewed data favoring a lavish new oversized Taj Mahal city hall (Option 3).
  10. Prevented voters from choosing the very suffcient current city hall space, which would be the least expensive option for 30+ years.

If you feel trapped by Measure K, you are! Protest this scam by voting for Option 1, leasing, until we are given a fair election on a smaller, resonably sized city hall..
