Bucknum Campaign Update Part 5
Wendy Bucknum is a professional lobbyist who is running for a Mission Viejo council seat in the November 2014 election.
Previous parts of this series identified Bucknum as a lobbyist in the housing industry and reported recent donations from her special-interest financiers. Her donors include apartment builders, consultants and property owners who hope to benefit from her support for high-density housing.
Bucknum lost her council bid in 2012 despite spending approximately $50,000. Essentially, she is running the same campaign as two years ago. She reported the following donors on her campaign finance report for Oct. 1 through Oct. 20, 2012:
- Mohannad Malas, Laguna Beach, Dana Investments, $200
- Dadig Ghias, Mission Viejo, Global Property Management, $100
- Saeed Sheikh, Laguna Niguel, Real Estate Developer, $100
- Arah Zaidi, HCA County of Orange Psychiatrist, $200
- Jihan Assaf, Mission Viejo, OCIF Board Member, $200
- Mahmood Kibriya, Laguna Niguel, Vik’s Union 76, $150
- Christopher Townsend, Laguna Hills, Townsend Public Affairs, $1,000
- Susan Withrow, Mission Viejo, Consultant, $250
- Rancho Mission Viejo LLC, San Juan Capistrano, $500
- California Womens Leadership Assoc. Political Action Committee, San Juan Capistrano, $500
- Apartment Assoc. of California Political Action Committee, Santa Ana, $500
- Rey Insurance Services, San Juan Capistrano, $500
- Pamela Rashline, Laguna Niguel, PCM (Bucknum’s employer), $100
- Rudolfo Padrol, Mission Viejo, Wells Fargo, $100
- Committee for Improved Public Policy, Laguna Niguel, $1,500
- Annamalai Palaniappan, Mission Viejo, Terradyne, $150
- CH2MHill, Inc., Englewood, CO $250
- Orange County Auto Dealer Association, $1,000
Obvious sites for apartments and other high-density housing include the Casta del Sol Golf Course and the former Unisys property on Jeronimo. Voters should RUN from this candidate.
